According to Statistics Canada, liquor authorities sold the equivalent of 9.7 standard alcoholic beverages a week per Canadian of legal drinking age in the period April 1, 2020 - March 31, 2021, totaling 3,180 million liters. Sales were up 2.1% as compared to the previous year.
Furthermore, Canadians of legal drinking age purchased the equivalent of 2.6 shots of spirits every week during that duration. Sales of spirits grew 5.7% to 191.7 million liters by volume. Gin also experienced the most growth during the last decade. Quebec reported the highest volume of sales of gin, followed by Ontario.
